After the LoBcast bye week, the blog boys are back in the basement one episode shy of their podcast mid-life crisis. After last weekend's shenanagins in Seattle, we share a few yarns from our travels as well as make good on Wyatt's challenge for jBow to eat a GIANT Reese Peanut Butter Cup as fast as he can. So listen now for that, Canucks talk and your questions from Twitter.
The basement is full of bloggers, and we've got tons to talk about. The Canucks have completed their 4 game Pacific road trip, and it high it's high point, and low points. Join the Legion as they discuss that, the Sedins drought, NFL news, updated November Canucket List, Why Glen Healy is just the worst and Steven Stamkos' leg injury (feat. Twitter haikus). All that, plus The Stanchion "goes down" on Jerry Jones, and we take your questions from Twitter.
The Canucks trounced the Leafs, The Sedins re-upped for 4 more years and Pavel Bure's jersey was retired. Yeah, I'd say it was a pretty awesome weekend for Canucks fans. Wyatt is back for Ep.37, and we talk Bure's wifes boobs, Eddie Lack's fantasy football taunts, John Tortorella defending the Sedins, Why the Coyotes are still in Phoenix and Joffrey Lupul's "Elbow that Wasn't". All that plus your questions from Twitter (including a half assed accent, and the ensuing fallout)
The Stanchion had a previous engagement of the hockey variety, so we reached out to outspoken twitter personality Dave Wells of @BrownToBure notoriety to guest host the show this week. He did not disappoint. Trying to tailor the show to our guest, we crack a few "sodas" and discuss the Canucks, Halloween Candy, Dollar stores, pumpkin carving accidents and which Vancouver newspaper is ridiculously oversized and hard to read. All that, plus some interesting questions from twitter. We had fun.
He's back, and he's Botchier than ever. The man who everyone wants to talk to in the wake of "Cock-gate", Jason Botchford joins the Legion of Blog in the basement this week. Botch is our second returning guest and previously has the record for highest rated episode of the show. Listen as we discuss GTA V, Tom Sestito, What is wrong with Dan Hamhuis and of course, we go long talking about Joe Thornton. All that, plus a super-sized "Question from Twitter" segment.
Recorded immediately following the Canucks 3-0 defeat of the lowly Buffalo Sabres, the Legion of Blog sits in front of their mics and sadly admit: there is nothing to get excited about. Buffalo sucks. We also discuss NFL, a sombre "Oaktober" update, our favourite new TV show, jBow's movie time and "Cock-gate: The Joe Thornton Incident". All that, plus your questions from twitter (which Wyatt really wants to be called "Qwitter")
The Canucks are back in regular season action, and after a 3-1 start there is plenty to talk about. Cory Schneider returned to the Rog, we got our first great Torts soundbyte and Mike Santorelli is one of us. We also give updates on the "Canucket List", "Oaktober" and briefly discuss GTA V. All that, plus your questions from twitter (and 20 minutes of hilarious wrestling promos).
It is our last episode before real, legitimate, non-exhibition NHL hockey comes back, and we couldn't be more excited. Pop in those headphones and listen as we discuss the Canucks' cup chances, players who will make an impact, Hunter Shinkaruk's potential and several other things we will probably be wrong about come May. Also, on the heels of last week's controversial "Saved by the Bell" trivia challenge, Bow & Stanch go head to head in "Friends" trivia, hosted by Bowman's girlfriend who put up a batch of home made cookies for the winner. All that, plus your questions from twitter.
We've got a week of preseason hockey to digest, and the Canucks have looked good (once) and awful (the rest of the time). We discuss the players that have impressed us, the players that have worried us, and the Kassian/Kessel suspension malarkey. Also, two weeks after the challenge was issued, jBow is put to the test on his "Saved By The Bell" trivia. The controversial results, plus your questions from twitter.
For our landmark 30th episode, the Legion of Blog decided to come out of the basement and record live on location from the bowels of Rogers Arena during the Canucks first preseason game against the San Jose Sharks. We chat during the intermissions about the young stars, cookies, Hubris bets and we feature an exclusive post-game interview with (potential) backup goalie Eddie Lack. All that, plus your questions from Twitter.
Last week we were "back" this week we're...still here. Hockey hasn't returned yet, but luckily another sport we love returned. The NFL season is officially underway, and Wyatt celebrates his first week as a fantasy football owner. We discuss that, Luongo at UBC, Detroit's Robocop statue, Midlake Ontario's ball-less youth soccer league and Canada's new hockey jersey. All that, plus your questions from twitter and a new segment AMBUSH.
Summer is done, and so is our offseason fiesta. After a few "Very Special Episodes" during the summer (with some awesome guests), the lure of talking sports and then tangenting to bullshit was too much to fight. We missed you, so we went very heavy on your questions from twitter this episode. Also...hockey isn't back so conversation topics are at a premium. Listen as we talk Luongo, Tanev, superior pasta, "The World's End", summer memories and fantasy football. Also, we go on record with our opinions on Ben Affleck as Batman. As always, we disagree...
It's been several weeks since our last episode (we're getting some offseason R & R, deal with it). Even though we don't have a blockbuster guest like Dan Murphy this week, that doesn't stop us from having hockey talk that spirals into a variety of topics. So listen now as we discuss Greek food, Bowman's birthday party, best Summer fruits, "Spartacat" and that dude who ran onto the field during the MLB all-star game. Plus, we are the last two people on Earth to weigh in on the Cory Schneider trade. All that, plus your questions from twitter.
Dog days of summer? Phooey and pshaw! The Legion of Blogcast just snagged another awesome guest host and it's Sportsnet's own Dan Murphy. In case you aren't sure who he is, he is the guy on your Canucks broadcasts who wears suits more expensive than your car. He joins us in the basement (not really, recorded via skype) for conversations about buyouts, John Tortorella and just what he's been up to during the offseason. Also, we play "Pronger or Disney Villain" and answer your questions from twitter!
And on the 8th day, he published the podcast. j.Bowman's hubris bet with Jason Botchford to see "Fast & Furious 6" once a day for 7 days is finally over. Immediately following their viewing, Botch & Bow sat down for a mini-sode of the Legion of Blogcast to discuss the movie, the bet, the future and how all men have to have a code.
After the record-setting episode featuring Canucks goalie prospect (and all around good dude) Eddie Lack, the Legion is back in the basement for another episode, and once again will be joined by a special guest who is above doing our show.
Province writer Jason Botchford stops by this week and joins in on a game of "Rock, Arnold or Sly?", as well as discussing the Canucks coaching shakeup, future deals that would help this team and engages Bow in a hubris bet regarding "Fast & Furious 6". All that plus your questions from twitter AND find out just how he would seduce and repair Amanda Bynes.
The Vancouver Canucks are eliminated for another year, and the Legion of Blog returns to the basement for some good ol' fashioned lamenting. Joining us for the first time is someone from the Canucks organizations (for reals) as goalie prospect (and avid FIFA gamer) Eddie Lack joined us for what is no doubt our best show ever. Listen as we discuss Greek food, the Canucks, proper video game etiquette and play a round of "Sweden or Finland"? and answer your questions from twitter. Plus, a Lackapella version of "The Final Countdown" and another classic song.
